Shipping/Receiving Lead

Duties and skill requirements:

Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.

  • Oversee incoming receipts and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Issue written and oral instructions.
  • Verify product received against packing slip and MTM Purchase Order, post receipt into the ERP database.
  • Assess stock for damage or deterioration.
  • Review daily reports to create shippers in ERP database.
  • Review shipping documentation and obtain necessary signatures or QA approvals.
  • Pull products from stock to package for shipment to customers.
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
  • Attach the covers/lids to wooden crates and bind containers with metal banding.
  • Utilize customer portals to prepare ASNs (Advance Shipping Notices) and print out labels and shipping documents generated.
  • Affix shipping labels on packed cartons and insert shipping documentation.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operate a forklift truck or use a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving to storage or work area.
  • Prepare products for shipment or storage according to packaging instructions and to ensure product quality.
  • Contact transportation companies for pick-up.
  • Maintain log/schedule for MTM driver.
  • Follow the Quality Management System procedures and instructions.
  • Support the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with quality, industrial and government standards and regulations.
  • Comply with MTM’s safety rules and regulations and wear the appropriate safety equipment when entering the production or tooling departments.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and orderly working environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 to 12 months related experience.
