May Tool and Mold (now known as May Technology & Mfg., Inc.) was founded by Ernie and Theresia May in 1964.
Ernest 'Ernie' May was born and raised in Romania. During World War II, Ernie, and his family left their winery and moved to Austria, where he learned the tool and die trade. Ernie moved to England while waiting to immigrate to the United States in 1956. Theresia Reinhart was born and raised in Germany. In 1956, Theresia came to the United States by herself to visit a great-aunt in Kansas City. While visiting her great-aunt, Theresia met Ernie at the German Club of Kansas City in 1956. They married later that year.
Ernie's dream was to own his own machine shop. They started with one machine and rented space from another company. While the business was getting off the ground, Theresia supplemented the family income by using her seamstress knowledge.
May Technology & Mfg., Inc. continues Ernie and Theresia's dream by strategically shaping the company by working with our customers to meet their requirements and the industry's changing needs. Part of our mission is to continually invest in new technology: high-speed and high-precision machining equipment, the latest in metrology measurement, and our most important and valuable resource, our people!
